The End is Here

Thanksgiving could have not been more of a success! The family showed up on time, the friends brought wine, and the food came out hot. Gabby came over early that day, being that she was the only other American attending the dinner. We prepared the two turkeys and mouth watering stuffing; we created a concoction of sweet eggnog and sliced up a batch of candied sweet potatoes. Although during the rush hour when all the food is coming out to the table, everyone else was cracking into the wine my friends had brought. I never got a glass because before i turned around it was gone! Haha, it was ok because there was plenty of other beverages to consume such as the amazing eggnog we brewed. I can only say how grateful i am to have met such great people and have them in my life! We shared stories of my trip and the times we spent together doing our crazy adventures. The evening began with a hectic kitchen and ended in a toast to thank everyone for all they have done for me. As I toasted it occurred to me that these people that I have lived with, laughed with and  loved with, are no longer just people but they are my new family. My family made up of life long friends!

The next 2 weeks of my stay will be transformed into the ending of my amazing adventure. The holiday season is here and everywhere you look the people are more jolly and the town is even brighter with color. Counting down the days on my Danish advent calendar has also brought some new meanings. My mind tells me that this trip will be irreplaceable I don't want it to end, but it has also told me  that there are people to return to and that my life back home must continue.

In conclusion to this blog that i have been writing, i would like to thank everyone that has been following and commenting. Especially my Aunt Roberta who has kept me writing. Aunt Roberta, I know you will be reading this so i would like to thank you for all your comments and emails during my trip. You are the closest thing i have to my mother and i am extremely grateful for that. I love you and your an inspiration for me to achieve my highest goals and having you beside me is like having my mom there. Thank You! All in all as i finish off my trip and begin to proceed home, i can only hope that my journey will continue and i will use everything that i have learned to help me in my future. Therefore when the end is here i would like to say, "It has been fun, but it is time to return to reality!”

Thanks for reading

Keep in Touch

  1. Dear Kyle
as i first started reading your comments about how your thanksgiving went - i was so happy for you -- making the turkeys, the "mouthwatering stuffing" that i knew you were so looking forward to. then i was glad you missed the wine and could indulge only in the eggnog you brewed!! at your age! even though you are in denmark! as i read on, i was struck by how much older you seem in this blog - by how much wiser and more insightful you are -- by the reality of how much you know you have gained on this trip. I am so happy for you -- but then i read on - and you brought tears to my eyes...
Kyle you know i love you and i have always loved you and wanted to be there for you and billy -- since your mom died and since grandma died - i will always be there for you -- i know you are capable of great things -- i know this trip would be so worth it for you - and i am certain it will help you to achieve your dreams. i love you- reality isn't all bad ... have a safe trip home ....
